Reality Therapy

Who is Reality Therapy for?

Reality Therapy is a therapeutic approach, developed by Dr. William Glasser, used to help people with a number of psychological and emotional difficulties including, Anxiety and Phobias.

How Does Reality Therapy Work?

Reality therapy focuses on the present, and on problem solving to help people to make better decisions in order to meet their goals. More specifically therapists help people to change negative thoughts and behaviours in order to change the way they feel.

“For a long time I felt as if nothing in my life seemed to click. After studying for my degree overseas I found myself suffering from anxiety all the time. In addition, I would often get so anxious about things in my life I would sabotage my relationships and jobs. I later discovered with the help of my therapist that this was all due to my low self-esteem. I had never known something so small could spiral out of control. Thank you for helping me find the root of the problem and continuing to help me resolve it.”

What the Research into Reality Therapy Says

Research has illustrated that the use of Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) did not differ significantly in the treatment and improvement of reducing anxiety in a sample of people with social phobia. Further research has demonstrated positive outcomes when using VRT to treat people with specific anxiety problems and phobias such as the fear of flying.
