Who is Integrative Therapy for?
How Integrative Therapy Works?
What the Research into Integrative Therapy Says
Research into the use of Integrative Therapy, including CBT, has found a significant reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression in some populations. A recent study testing the combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with strategies addressing interpersonal issues and emotional avoidance found that an integrative approach significantly reduced symptoms of Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in participants. In addition, research has found some support for psychotherapy that integrates other effective therapies as well as behavioural patterns related to promoting good psychological health in combating symptoms of depression. Further empirical research is needed to fully establish the utility of an integrative approach to therapy.
