Gestalt Therapy
Who is Gestalt Therapy for?
Gestalt Therapy can help people with a variety of emotional and psychological problems including, Anxiety, Addiction, Depression, Low Self Esteem and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
How Does Gestalt Therapy Work?
Gestalt Therapy is a Humanistic Therapy approach that is based loosely on the Gestalt concepts of unity and wholeness. Gestalt Therapy is usually conducted in groups and focuses on a person’s past experiences, memories, emotional states and bodily sensations to broaden self-awareness and personal responsibility.
Self-awareness is a central focus to the teachings in Gestalt Therapy, with attention paid to clearing negative thoughts and behaviour with specific techniques such as role-play and attention to body language to help find a new perspective.

What the Research into Gestalt Therapy Says
There is a lack of scientific research supporting the usefulness of Gestalt Therapy and due to the nature of the approach, it is not suitable to study its effectiveness with randomised controlled trials. There are however, a few qualitative studies that suggest Gestalt Therapy can yield effective outcomes in cases of conflict resolution.
