There are many challenges to life, some of which can feel unbearable at times. Through exploration, we can find a way to give your experiences a different and more meaningful understanding. This will enable you to start your journey in living the life that you choose to live.
There are many approaches that guide my therapeutic work, this includes the more mainstream approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Systemic Therapy however my work is also guided by a range of other approaches such as Social Constructionist ideas. The importance of which can help us to explore the less dominant or less widely accessible narratives in life which can often have a big impact on our experiences, lives and relationships. Therefore, depending on what you would like from therapy, we can together explore which approach would be most suitable for you at this point in your life.
My approach in working with you will include providing you with a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore and reflect on your experiences. My work is collaborative, which means we will explore your main concerns in the context of your past experiences and then together think about what you would like to achieve from therapy.
I am trained in a number of therapeutic approach including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Behavioural Approaches (including Positive Behavioural Support), Narrative Therapy and Systemic Therapy. Therefore, my work can focus on a particular type of therapy or it can integrate ideas from a number of approaches based on your needs.
I am aware that suffering can show itself in many ways and the causes can be wide and varied and they are not always easy to make sense of. Therefore, I am able to draw on my wide knowledge base in order to help me to maintain a position of curiosity. It is then from this position that we can work together in order to explore your experiences.
Curiosity is at the heart of what motivates my work. Asking questions and developing a meaningful narrative is an area which has interested me from a very young age. Consequently, it is an area that I have developed and tried to understand better through my academic and clinical work.
On a daily basis, I enjoy the important connections I have in my life. I am also fond of nature and exploring different areas, cities and general greenery and outdoor spaces.
