Philosophy
Life can throw all sorts of events and various difficulties at us, even more so in today’s increasing busy society. At these times, we can get stuck in our own thoughts and unhelpful patterns of behaviour, which can leave people feeling various, often uncomfortable emotions. I liken these times to being on a well-worn bush track, which it can feel difficult to know how to get off. However, there are many other paths out there, and with support, we can begin to forage a new path to follow. Psychology is helpful in finding this new path and developing the skills to get on and stay on it.
Approach
I aim to create a safe space for my clients where they can share their current difficulties and we can work together to come to a shared understanding of these difficulties. From this shared understanding, therapy is a space in which to develop and practice various ‘tools’ to add to your ‘tool box’ to get onto the path you wish to be. I truly value working collaboratively and welcome feedback on how therapy is going, so we can tailor it to fit you.
I have experience both in Australia and the UK across various sectors, including the NHS, community mental health services, non-government services, schools, and hospital settings. I have experience working with children, adolescents, families and adults in these various roles. I have supported people experiencing depression, various anxiety conditions, addictive behaviours, disabilities, behavioural concerns, and relationship issues.
I primarily use a CBT approach, though I also use other therapeutic approaches, including mindfulness, narrative therapy, solution focussed therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. The approach will always be tailored to the individual as we work together to get onto the path you wish to be.
Motivation
I have always been fascinated by the mind and how we as people think and behave. I’m motivated to help people and bring about sustainable difference and change in their lives. I feel privileged when people share their difficulties with me and find it immensely rewarding when people begin to understand their current circumstances more and being to find ways of bringing out the change they want.
About Me
I was born in Australia and am a keen traveller. I enjoy various hobbies such as photography and knitting and always have a book on the go.
