Painful memories from the past or overwhelming worries about the future can prevail in our lives and can dominate our thoughts. As time is passing by, we can be left with the feeling of not living the life we want; of constantly waiting for something to change, when we will be free to be ourselves again. I am motivated to use all my knowledge about the human mind, to guide you through your inner world and help you to become your best friend, instead of being your worse enemy. You will feel in charge of your life again.
I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society. In my therapeutic sessions, I adopt a mindfulness based cognitive-behavioural approach, with specific focus of Acceptance and Commitment techniques (ACT). ACT therapy has received great evidence-based support in recent years in alleviating different types of psychological distress (stress, anxiety, depression etc.) but also for alleviating suffering in chronic pain patients. During ACT, we will work together in finding a way to decrease the impact that your negative thoughts and feelings have on your life. Our main goal is for you to enjoy a meaningful life, based on your values. You will learn a new way of relating to your painful thoughts and feelings, so that you will no longer find them overwhelming.
I have spent the last 15 years investigating human behaviour and psychological distress, both as a scientist and as a clinical psychologist. I am particularly interested in the effect of psychological distress on physical well-being and I adopt a mind-body approach in my sessions. It is of outmost importance to me to deliver evidence-based interventions, which have been extensively researched and whose effectiveness has been scientifically proven.
Besides being a clinical psychologist, I am also a cognitive neuroscientist, and I investigate the interaction between physical and emotional well-being. I can deliver therapy in English and Italian.
