At some point, we all experience difficulties and challenges either in our personal or professional lives. Some of these are harder to deal with on our own and may generate feelings of helplessness, distress and stagnation. A friendly and experienced ear can always make a positive difference. I believe there are always alternatives and different ways of thinking about things. The aim of our work will be to enable you to explore new perspectives and find a way towards an improved sense of well-being. I will work with you to come up with a treatment plan, unique to you, that meets your needs and helps you move forward in your life.
I am a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have extensive experience working with individuals, families and children from a variety of backgrounds and with a wide range of difficulties. I have experience providing therapy within many different settings including the NHS, voluntary services and through private practise. My practice is informed by evidence-base, and I always make sure I keep up to date with research developments regarding effective psychological models.
I draw on a range of approaches, specializing in CBT and third-wave therapies, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT). I work collaboratively with my clients, tailoring my approach to suit each individual’s unique needs. I work in a flexible, collaborative and client-centred way and provide a therapeutic environment in which my clients feel safe, respected and understood. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is a key to successful therapy and will work to develop this with each client.
I am motivated by a lifelong curiosity in people and their capacity to develop. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client can be a vehicle for change and I endeavour to develop strong therapeutic relationships. I appreciate that my clients share significant experiences with me and I am grateful for the opportunity to support them in their unique journey. Witnessing change is rewarding and fascinating.
I love travelling the world and meeting different cultures. In my free time I enjoy baking, seeing friends, watching movies and reading books.
