Assistant Clinical Psychologist
For the majority of people, the human experience produces events that are psychologically difficult, and it is important for us to learn to cope and face our individual challenges, as well as eradicate potentially debilitating conditions. My feeling is that we all deserve assistance with individual struggles from those qualified, passionate and dedicated to improving the self-esteem, happiness, and overall health of others. Once qualified, I aspire to provide an effective therapeutic approach for those who suffer with mental and/or physical health difficulties.
Presently, I am building on my involvement, education, and approach to Clinical Psychology. I plan to develop into a knowledgeable, skilled and well-rounded Psychologist following extensive training and experience. I have previous practice as a Psychology Research Assistant and during this project underwent basic training in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including EEG, fMRI, Thematic Analysis, Discourse Analysis and Grounded Theory. I apply my knowledge from this work, along with my education to inform a deep understanding of diverse psychological issues, and although research in psychology does not perfectly mirror reality, research is still a significant practice for extending psychological theory.
Education has inspired me and personal experience has encouraged me to pursue my passion for Psychology and a career as a Clinical Psychologist. In addition, my time as a Research Assistant further enhanced my insight and love for the study of human behaviour.
Adversity has enabled strength and resilience within me that has fostered a sincere desire to help instill similar aptitudes in others. I am also passionate about empowering those with physical disabilities as well as mental health problems, and so I contribute to projects that support the mobility impaired.
In my spare time I enjoy being surrounded by my small menagerie of once unwanted, now very much loved animals. I get so much joy from baking for my family and friends, I always skip to the last page when I pick up a new book, and I often revisit my childhood in the form of console gaming.
