It is only natural for us to get caught up in the highs and lows of life, and therapy can enable us to make room for the latter. Often, the fear of change makes us risk-averse, which can lead us down a path that is in-congruent with our values. I assist clients to understand their fears and underlying unresolved issues, develop adaptive coping styles, and build resilience over time. This empowers them to move towards the values that matter to them, and consequently to lead richer and more meaningful lives.
I follow a person-centered, multi-formulation approach to understand the clients’ problems and their triggers. I assist clients in exploring adaptive coping strategies with the aim of developing resilience drawing on techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitments Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy, among other insight-oriented therapies. I approach sessions with curiosity and empathy to validate each client’s story as it is unique and being told by the expert!
Like most of us, having had experiences of lows in life, I understand the effort it takes to overcome the fears and anxieties and come to sessions. I respect that and the honour of having been allowed into something that is so personal to the client.
I am an Associate Fellow and Chartered Counselling Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society as well as a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, UK. With over 10 years of study at some of India’s top institutions, I completed my clinical psychology training in 2009, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural approaches to psychological problems.
